Project accomplishments:
- Opened a new facility, improving operational efficiency & generating savings of $300M per year UPS handels 12M packages per day through three major hub sorting operations. Was assigned the task of opening a new centrally located Chicago facility to improve package handling. Led the entire $200M construction project which effectively reduced sorting effort 50%. Generated significant labor savings and positively impacted profits.
- Automated complex logistics processes with projected savings of $600M over five years Sorting and loading operations are very labor and knowledge intensive experiencing high turnover rates and training costs. Developed methods and procedures to automate and simplify these processes. Significantly Reduced the knowledge needed to work in these areas through software designed to move packages efficiently to a given loading destination. Produced dramatic savings and improved delivery tracking and handling.
- Implemented Timekeeping Metrics for the Bank (savings of $10M per year) Using various process measurement techniques, developed metrics for several of the white collar jobs in a bank. For each job, identified the high skill versus manual and procedural activities. Initiated paying employees based on the operations performed -thus improving the utilization of skilled employees. Identified up to $10M per year in savings working within the CFO organization.
